Shorelunch - Warm chili for cold days

A fishing trip is also about a lot of time spent in nature and we all know it can get cold and humid sometimes.. It is therefore important to eat a good meal that will keep you warm and full of energy. Here is a recipe chili that can be warmed up on a woodfire or a grill.

  •     1 large onion, chopped

  •     1 jalapeno pepper, chopped

  •     2 c. tablespoons olive oil

  •     2 pounds ground beef

  •     2 garlic cloves, chopped

  •     1 c. chili powder

  •     1 c. tablespoon cayenne pepper

  •     1 c. to ground cumin

  •     1 can of crushed tomatoes

  •     1 can of well rinsed kidney beans

  •     1 can of well rinsed black beans

  •     1 can of sweet corn

  •     ½ cup of dark beer

  •     ¼ cup chili sauce

  •     The juice of a lime

  •     Sriracha sauce

  •     Salt and pepper

In your pot, brown the onion and pepper in olive oil. Add the meat and cook over medium heat until fully cooked. Season with salt and pepper. Do not oversalt, it will always be time to correct later. Add the garlic, the spices and cook another 2 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, simmer uncovered to let the chili thickens. Stir occasionally during cooking, your chili is ready when it reached the consistency you want (about 45 minutes). Adjust the seasonin with Sriracha, salt and pepper.
